Repairing the damage done to your home after a flood can look like an overwhelming job. In most cases, it’s best to seek out the services of a professional flood damage restoration team. But when my home flooded a few years ago, I found out that there were some things that I could do myself. Books, clothes, and even furniture can recover from water damage under the right circumstances. Knowing how to prevent mold, and remove it when you find it, can also come in handy after a flood. I know that it can be a devastating event for a family. That’s why I started this blog – to share my experience with flood damage and share the things that I learned that helped me put my home back together. With both professional help, and amateur ideas, hopefully you can learn something useful from my experience.
If you are building a house and want to make the exterior look sharp and attractive, you might want to consider using brick or stone. Unfortunately, brick and stone can both be very expensive materials to use for the entire exterior of a house. This is why many homeowners place stone or brick only on a small portion of their homes. There is an alternative option you could consider, though, called stone veneer siding.
What Is Stone Veneer Siding?
Stone veneer siding is a relatively new product you can purchase from many stores that sell siding. It is a mixture of stone and siding, and it often comes in planks or panels just like regular siding. Stone veneer siding is installed just like other types of siding options, and it looks just like real stone.
There are two main types of stone veneer siding you can choose from. One type has natural, real stones attached to the panels. You can then attach the panels to the side of your house. The other type is considered faux stone veneer, and this type is made of concrete. Concrete is poured into molds that are shaped like stones. Both types come in various colors, shapes, and patterns, and you can look at the samples to choose the one you like.
How Much Does It Cost?
Stone veneer siding is less costly that placing a real stone exterior on your house, because it is not solid stone. On the other hand, it is significantly higher in price than vinyl siding, but it offers a much nicer look than regular vinyl siding.
The lowest average cost for a square foot of vinyl siding is $4.52, which includes material and labor. For stone, the lowest average cost is $21.83 per square foot, and the lowest cost on average for stone veneer siding is $15.13 per square foot.
Are There Other Options?
In addition to purchasing stone veneer siding, you can also purchase siding that looks like brick. This type will cost around the same price as stone veneer siding, but it looks like brick instead of stone.
If you are building a house in a neighborhood that has covenants that require you to add stone or brick to your house, you may want to find out if this would be an acceptable alternative for your home. You could find this out by talking to your contractor or the developer of the subdivision.
Choosing stone veneer siding is a great option, and it will make your home look great. To learn more about your options, contact a company that sells and installs siding, such as Allstate Gutter & Siding.Share
