Repairing the damage done to your home after a flood can look like an overwhelming job. In most cases, it’s best to seek out the services of a professional flood damage restoration team. But when my home flooded a few years ago, I found out that there were some things that I could do myself. Books, clothes, and even furniture can recover from water damage under the right circumstances. Knowing how to prevent mold, and remove it when you find it, can also come in handy after a flood. I know that it can be a devastating event for a family. That’s why I started this blog – to share my experience with flood damage and share the things that I learned that helped me put my home back together. With both professional help, and amateur ideas, hopefully you can learn something useful from my experience.
If you are in the process of basement remodeling, then there are definitely some fun rooms that you should consider including in your new basement. These rooms will not only be fun for the kids, but they will also provide a great deal of fun for adults as well. This article will include 3 fun things to do to your basement when you remodel it, and will explain how to create these rooms.
Install A Theater Room
Watching movies is definitely a fun activity, but watching movies in a theater room is incredible. To create a movie room in your basement, you are going to want to have thick insulation placed in the walls so the sound won't echo throughout your house. You should also have a surround sound system installed in your walls, as well as a pre-wired movie projector. One of the walls will be solely used to hold the movie screen so that it can be incredibly large like a movie theater. You will then want to install a wood platform to elevate the second row of seats. This will make it easy for everyone to see when watching the movie. Use recliners with cupholders in them so that you and your family can enjoy a drink and some treats while sitting in your recliner, watching the movie.
Create A Fitness Center
If it is your goal to get in better shape, or if you really enjoy working out, then creating a fitness center in your very own basement will be incredibly convenient for you. When choosing the flooring for this room, you will want to want to go with wood or laminate flooring with padding underneath. This padding will help to catch some of the shaking and other movement that your exercise equipment will create. One of the walls in this room can be completely covered in a wall length mirror, so that you can watch yourself during certain workouts. Mounting a television on the wall will also help to keep you entertained while you are completing your workouts.
Include A Fully Loaded Game Room
Creating a game room that includes a variety of games will be fun for the whole family. You can make this room larger than the other rooms in your basement so that it can fit a variety of games, such as arcade games, foosball, air hockey, and pinball. You can also have a basketball court, bowling alley, or other creative games installed in this room.Share
