Repairing the damage done to your home after a flood can look like an overwhelming job. In most cases, it’s best to seek out the services of a professional flood damage restoration team. But when my home flooded a few years ago, I found out that there were some things that I could do myself. Books, clothes, and even furniture can recover from water damage under the right circumstances. Knowing how to prevent mold, and remove it when you find it, can also come in handy after a flood. I know that it can be a devastating event for a family. That’s why I started this blog – to share my experience with flood damage and share the things that I learned that helped me put my home back together. With both professional help, and amateur ideas, hopefully you can learn something useful from my experience.
If you have pests in your trees and around your home, there are a few things you need to do to get the situation under control. The pests that are eating and killing your trees may not be the same insects that are lingering around your home, but you still want to cater to both problems. If the insects are in your trees and around your yard, you don't want them to spread to other trees around the neighborhood, or even on the other side of your yard. Here are a few things you'll want to do.
Remove Mulch and Wood
Do you have a lot of mulch around the house as a decorative gardening item? If so, you want to consider taking it out. You can replace it with gravel, pebbles or large stone. This is going to prevent wood eating insects from coming around the home. You don't want to keep wood piles by the home, and if you have a rotting or damaged wood deck, you may want to get rid of it as well.
A professional tree service can come to the home and inject the trees with a pesticide that will kill the bugs that are killing the trees. Instead of trying to get rid of the bugs by coating the branches or where you trimmed, the trees are injected and you go from there. You can have this done to all of the trees and the plants in your yard that are affected, and the arborists may need to come more than one in the year.
Tree injections will also help if the tree is having a fungal problem, and the fungus is spreading through the entire tree. The arborists will determine which treatment is best for the problem.
Have the Yard Sprayed
You may want to have the yard sprayed for pests and bugs, so you don't have to worry about them swarming throughout the vegetation in the home, and to keep them from doing any more damage to the trees. The arborists can bring a spray application for the yard.
If you can see that your trees are starting get dead spots or that there are bugs eating at the leaves, or you are worried that they may have some type of fungal infection, you want to hire arborists to come to your property to see what is going on.Share
